snow day

As of 10pm, WNW Littleton (maybe a little ways off from here?) reported 19.0 inches of snow.
I didn't even round that. ;)

Columbus Day

After posting the last photo, I realized that I do have a photo that goes along with today's holiday! This is a statue of Christopher Columbus in Baltimore, between Little Italy and the Inner Harbor. :)

Building up

Happy Columbus Day! This photo has nothing to do with the day, other than the fact that I am posting this in the middle of the day - because I don't have to work today. Hooray for Columbus Day being a Federal holiday!!

I happened upon this little treasure on my way to work (training) one morning in Baltimore. I'm not sure what it is used for now, and perhaps it was never anything special, but it's a nice piece of history stuck in the middle of the skyscrapers that went up around it.

Evil seagull

Inverness, Scotland

I know I've told this story before, but probably not to everyone reading this. So, as you can see, the seagulls are pretty large in the UK. Well, what we have in Colorado are technically just "gulls" because they don't see the sea and maybe that is why they're smaller. Anyway...
One day at work, in London, I noticed this seagull rising in flight to our window, hovering for a bit, and then continually plunging down below (we were on the 3rd floor, or 2nd to the Brits). I distinctly remember thinking it looked very evil too, something about it's eyes... Well, my supervisor went out to lunch and when she returned she told us there was a dead pigeon outside the door on the sidewalk below. Apparently the seagull was preying on the pigeon. Eww. Click on that picture above and look at the eyes of the seagull. They all have this evil look to them (or at least, I think they do).

The light on this morning was just perfect, with a lovely crisp blue sky that made for an excellent background to the autumn colours.

St Paul's

Sir Christopher Wren
Said, "I am going to dine with some men.
If anyone calls,
Say I am designing St Paul's."

Happy October!!!

October 1st - My favourite month as well as the beginning of Italian-American Heritage Month and the first day of the new NHL season :)

I find this to be very comical - two defensemen taking the faceoff. Hehe.

I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,'
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

Psalm 139:8-12

Summer Snow

On the last full day of Summer, we get snow!
This has been such an odd year of weather. I just love it.

Happy Nineteenth!!!

One of the few things I love about winter - Canada geese. I know a lot of people think they are annoying, but I just love them. A small group of them stick around much of the year but they left our lake in August or so, and I can't wait for them to come back!
