O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years

Happy Independence Day!
234 and counting

My favorite holiday - and the day happily turned out to be one I would file in the "perfect day" category of life. Of course, I base my ratings almost entirely on the weather.

The sparkles at a closer view... click for full view. The light hitting the grass is pretty.
Occasionally I start to think I'm just taking the same photos (same subject, that is) over and over and over again - and, I am. However, I've decided that maybe that's not all bad, that it is helping me to see different things along the way, or see them in a different way. Because I go around the lake many times in a week, I am able to notice subtle changes in the environment and find the little details. Well, regardless, as long as I'm not bored of it (and I'm not), then I guess it is okay for now. :)

the light

From within or from behind, a light shines through us upon things, and makes us aware that we are nothing, but the light is all. (Ralph Waldo Emerson)

I have something of an obsession with Canada geese...
They are one of the few things I like about winter.

photography thoughts

I think I'm in a bit of a rut with photography. I don't know where I'm going with it -- I enjoy taking pictures, it's probably my favourite pastime, but I'd like to do something more with it. But what? I'm not sure. I've been thinking about making cards with my pictures on them and selling them on Etsy. Or just selling prints alone. Maybe taking a class? I'm not sure, but something else that makes me feel like I'm not just taking picture after picture and not doing anything with it. Hmm. Hopefully I can actually get myself moving and actually do something about this.

Happy Nineteenth!!!

One of the few things I love about winter - Canada geese. I know a lot of people think they are annoying, but I just love them. A small group of them stick around much of the year but they left our lake in August or so, and I can't wait for them to come back!
