pre-Mini Takes the States 2010

Currently there are loads of Minis all driving from the coasts to the central location where the rally is meeting this year - Denver! What luck! Sadly my own Mini is not ready - such bad timing. I think I've finally found "the one" but it is undergoing some tests and likely won't be ready until after this weekend. Anyway. Two years ago I attended my first rally as an enthusiast and it looks like I'll be the same this year for Mini Takes the States... (pictures to come after the rally is over!)

Happy places

Mount Evans Wilderness Area

Cloud shadows

I love being in a spot to see a cloud with its shadow sitting on a mountain.

My longest place of residence in London - on Perham Road. <3 Last there one week and two years ago. Too long - must go back soon.

June 5th

I am terrible at posting/sending requested pictures for people. One thing I've noticed is that I am better about it if I am to post it on this blog. Not sure why. These sunset photos I was meant to post on Facebook forever ago. Oops!

O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years

Happy Independence Day!
234 and counting

My favorite holiday - and the day happily turned out to be one I would file in the "perfect day" category of life. Of course, I base my ratings almost entirely on the weather.

Eggs

I remember reading in a psychology book once that a key to eating for cancer patients is that they don't eat many of their favourite foods when they're doing chemotherapy because they'll be throwing up a lot of those foods. Once they see their favourite foods coming up like that, it seems to be a psychological thing, that they often don't want to eat those foods again and it becomes difficult to eat much at all once they no longer like their favourite foods.

This past week I had a lovely experience like this. I'm still not sure what it was I had, the flu, food poisoning... something bad. My stomach is still a little weary of what goes into it. I don't know when I'll be eating eggs again or drinking coffee since those were the things I ate just before I got sick. I took these pictures a few months ago and I thought my little sandwich looked so tasty. Not so much anymore. :-/

Candied tulips

Earlier this week I watched that Food Network show, Alex's Day Off (or something like that?) and she picked up some candied oranges and lemons from the store. They looked really good. This tulip, which is a "Queen of Night" or "Black Tulip" reminds me of the candied fruit. We had a frost just after Mother's Day and all of the tulips looked like they were sprinkled with sugar. Mmmm...
